*Players must be present at tryouts to make the team. No exceptions.
Players will be expected to be wearing proper volleyball attire when in the gym:
- T-shirts (short or long sleeve) -- NOTE: NO tank tops, crop top/cut-off shirts, or sleeveless shirts

- If you make a team, you will be required to purchase spandex shorts as that is part of the uniform (exceptions will be made to this requirement if, for religious reasons, you cannot wear spandex shorts)

Do NOT wear the following items: Tank tops

Metal Hair Pins
Practices start immediately after tryouts and run from August to late-October/mid-November.

Practice times will change for inclement weather, and/or school events as designated by the DSA office. On days of inclement weather or school events, the DSA office will contact coaches, who will notify the team captains to tell the players for their respective teams. Varsity is usually the only team that will practice during inclement weather.

Tryouts are very competitive and it is not an easy experience for coaches, players, or parents. It is very stressful and demanding. We ask that if your child does not make a team - please be supportive and aware that there are many opportunities to participate in other sports, clubs, and organizations at Woodson.
All communication is done by email or through the Team Captains once teams are selected. Important announcements will also go out over the wtwoodsonsports.com website. The schedule is also available at this site along with the practice schedule for the year. Any changes to the standard schedule will be sent by email or in handouts to players – we ask that you remain flexible, as there will be changes.
Any questions please contact the head coach, Len Palaschak at: or 703-969-9399 (cell). If emailing Coach Palaschak, please make sure to CC the assistant coach, Sam Mackin at and .

UPDATED: June 29, 2020
***We have received updated information on Concussion Ed and the process in which it will need to be completed. For the time being, since the online system is continuing to have issues. The County is switching to a paper method. The process will be completed as follows:
A PDF version of the Concussion Education presentation has been released/available to the community.
The Student AND at least One Parent must review the PDF, print and sign the last slide (both the parent and the student must sign it). You will only need to print the last page, NOT the entire 48-page packet.
Once you have signed the last page of the presentation, please turn it in to Christopher Hogge, who is our Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC).
You can also put the signed page into the ATC mailbox, which is just outside the DSA office (turn left immediately after entering Door 3 -- it will be one of the wooden boxes outside the first door on your left).
Ideally, you will turn in the form with your physical, but it can be turned in separately.
Mr. Hogge will enter confirmation that you completed the education into the compliance list and the FCPS medical records system.
