Tues., Nov. 9 - Freshmen @ 3:30-5:30pm in the Aux. JV/Varsity @ 5:30-7:30pm in the Main Gym.
Wed., Nov. 10 - Freshmen @ 3:30-5:30pm in the Aux. JV @ 5:30-7:30pm in the Aux. Varsity @ 5:30-7:30pm in the Main Gym. After this tryout, you will be told whether you've made a team. All tryout attendees will get a face-to-face meeting.
*All Freshmen will be trying out together on the first day, Nov. 8. All 10th-12th graders will be trying out together on the first day, Nov. 8, at least. After the first day, you willbe told by a coach which team tryout to attend on day 2.
What You Need:
On the first day of tryouts, each player must wear a white t-shirt with her full name written legibly on the back. No Exceptions! Must have a mask with you and 32 ounces of water. Do not bring a ball!
In order to try out, all players must have submitted the following 4 items:
A sports physical on file with the Woodson trainer dated May 1, 2021 or later to participate. Forms can be found on the FCPS web site or in the Activities Office near the Main Gym (door 3). These must be submitted directly to the trainer located next to door 5.
Emergency Care Card (ECC) must be on file. Go to Activity Registration at wtwoodsonsports.com and fill out the ECC there. You must indicate Girls Basketball when registering (submitting your ECC).
You and a parent must complete the concussion education. It can be found via the Activity Registration tab at wtwoodsonsports.com.
You must submit evidence of being vaccinated for Covid-19 or have evidence of a religious or medical exemption if you are 16 or older. Those who are unvaccinated no matter what age must submit weekly negative Covid-19 tests. See wtwoodsonsports.com for more information. \
Tryout Criteria and Evaluation
Each player’s skill level will be assessed in a set of 10 categories:
Passing & Receiving
Game Comprehension & Court Awareness
Motivation & Effort
Each team’s coaches will collaborate on giving a score for each player in each category. Each player will receive a 5 through 1. Head coaches have the final say on any score
