As a reminder, FCPS requires student-athletes to be fully vaccinated or provide a weekly negative COVID-19 test to participate in VHSL sports or any activity requiring a physical. This includes in-season Winter sports and out-of-season Fall and Spring sports.
Student-athletes ages 16 and older are required to be vaccinated or have a medical or religious exemption.
Student-athletes ages 16 and older with a medical or religious vaccination exemption will be required to provide a weekly negative COVID-19 test.
Student-athletes ages 16 and older who are not vaccinated or do not have an exemption may not participate in any activity.
Student-athletes ages 12-15 who are not fully vaccinated by choice or due to a medical or religious exemption will be required to provide a weekly negative COVID-19 test.
COVID-19 screening testing for unvaccinated student-athletes (those under 16 or with an exemption) began this week. The Woodson High School testing site window is every Thursdaystarting November 18th from 12:30pm-2:00pm in Room C158 the Athletic Training Room. Students requiring testing are asked to please stop by the Activities Office every Thursday between 7:45am and 8:10am to pick up a pass.
Parent/legal guardian consent is required before COVID screening testing can begin for a student-athlete to be tested at school. You may withdraw your consent for testing at any time. If you want your child to begin participating in COVID-19 screening testing at Woodson, you must pre-register your child(ren) and provide consent using the secure online portal.

Student-athletes will receive PCR tests using the Anterior Nares Swab (shallow swab).
Student-athlete testing is provided by Aegis Sciences Corporation, a partner in the Virginia Department of Health’sVIssTA program.
Testing takes place at all traditional high school sites. Woodson will be every Thursday 12:30pm-2:00pm
Test results will be kept confidential and made available to parents and guardians. Student-athlete test results will be provided to the Director of Student Activities and other designated FCPS personnel if parent/guardian consent is provided for the disclosure.
Student-athletes participating in screening testing will not be part of the school’s random sample for weekly testing.
